The rigorous CAEP Standards define an accreditation process that is radically – and intentionally – different from previous generations of educator preparation accreditors. The CAEP Standards call on educator preparation providers (EPPs) to imagine what success looks like in their local context, to create a culture of continuous improvement at the faculty level, and to define how they will link valid, reliable evidence to demonstrate this achievement.

CAEP Voices is a project that captures what this looks like – and what it means – from the educator preparation professionals leading the work. Hear from deans, assessment coordinators, knowledge managers, and others on how they made the CAEP Standards work for their EPPs.

2026 CAEP Awards Highlight: MidAmerica Nazarene University

MidAmerica Nazarene University in South Kansas is one of 31 providers that were recognized with the Murray Recognition at the Fall 2026 CAEPCon. Jill Gonzalez-Bravo says after the previous accreditation cycle MidAmerica Nazarene began data collection as a team which has resulted in greater buy-in from faculty and also increased accountability. Gonzalez-Bravo says they have also begun offering their completers professional development for their first three years in the classroom, which has resulted in greater participation from completers in their case studies and showcasing their effectiveness in the field. 2026 CAEP Awards Highlight: Marshall University

Marshall University in West Virginia is one of 31 providers that were recognized with the Murray Recognition at the Fall 2026 CAEPCon. Kelly Bradley says she appreciates that CAEP accreditation is not one size fits all. She says that in classrooms, teachers must be able to adjust to their students, and in preparing teachers a provider needs to be able to meet the specific needs of their candidates. She says CAEP accreditation and its emphasis on continuous improvement has made Marshall University a better partner to the communities they serve and allows them to prepare successful teachers.

2026 CAEP Awards Highlight: Longwood University

Longwood University in South Virginia is one of 31 providers that were recognized with the Murray Recognition at the Fall 2026 CAEPCon. Tara McDaniel and Karla Collins say working with other providers in Virginia going through accreditation at the same time offered them the opportunity to share strategies, information and resources. They spent a significant amount of time early in the process identifying their quality assurance system and realized that it changes over time.

2026 CAEP Awards Highlight: Ball State University

Ball State University in Indiana is one of 31 providers that were recognized with the Murray Recognition at the Fall 2026 CAEPCon. Shawn Sriver says Ball State takes the feedback they receive during reviews very seriously and takes that feedback into consideration when they are looking at making improvements. Sriver says that not receiving data from the state provides a challenge in meeting Standard Four, but they have found ways to work with K-12 districts to understand how their completers are performing in the classroom.

2026 CAEP Awards Highlight: Drew University

Drew University in Indiana is one of 31 providers that were recognized with the Murray Recognition at the Fall 2026 CAEPCon. Kristen Turner says that while they are a small provider, teamwork has allowed them to focus on continuous improvement for their candidates. Turner says one of the keys to their success is to make continuous improvement part of their everyday work, not simply something they do for accreditation.

2026 CAEP Awards Highlight: Fairmont State University

Fairmont State University in West Virginia is one of 31 providers that were recognized with the Murray Recognition at the Fall 2026 CAEPCon. Marcie Raol and Julie Reneau say Fairmont State University’s focus on continuous improvement is an ongoing process and that providers really need to examine how they collect data and see where improvements can be made. They say not to be afraid to identify where there may be issues, because those become areas to focus upon. They also say using the CAEP resources helped them to connect their work to the standards.
