The CAEP 2018 K-6 Elementary Teacher Preparation Standards have been approved as a choice of standards for states and EPPs selecting the CAEP Evidence Review of Standard One (previously known as CAEP Review with Feedback) for their elementary teacher preparation programs. These standards are available for providers to use to gather program level evidence for CAEP Standard 1 (Component 1.3) as part of the CAEP accreditation process. Since CAEP does not have a SPA status, the use of the CAEP 2018 K-6 Elementary Teacher Preparation Standards will not result in national recognition.
States specify through an agreement with CAEP, the program review options. Upon the sunset the 2007 ACEI Standards, states will need to indicate whether EPPs offering Elementary Teacher Preparation programs will be able to adopt the state review or the CAEP Evidence Review of Standard One process, moving forward.
Understanding Assessing and Using the K-6 Elementary Teacher Preparation Standards
Transition from 2007 ACEI Standards to 2018 CAEP Elementary Standards:
EPPs using the 2007 ACEI standards, during the transition phase, will be able to use the outcome assessment evidence they have collected and analyzed using these standards and upload it as evidence for CAEP Standard 1 (Component 1.3) as part of the self-study report.
EPPs using the CAEP 2018 K-6 Elementary Teacher Preparation Standards will be able to use the outcome assessment evidence they have collected and analyzed using these standards and upload it as evidence for CAEP Standard 1 (Component 1.3) as part of the self-study report.
